Jackson, 2017
The lamp Jackson is a tribute to the artist Jackson Pollock. The Us-American artist is one of the most important representatives of Abstract Expressionism and a central figure of Action Painting. Like all artists who belong to Action Painting, the production process of the artwork is in the focus. Pollock's works were created through movement, he painted from all sides and his gestures were free and of great spontaneity. The lamp Jackson reflects exactly this creative process, it only begins to illuminate through the use of movement and extinguishes again after the movement has stopped. Inside the lamp there is an Arduino microcontroller, programmed with a gyroscope, which only sends a signal to an LED when Jackson is in motion.
